To participate, volunteers must register with the HandsOn Network and choose among projects from more than 70,000 nonprofit organizations. After you sign up and complete your volunteer activity (the HandsOn Network will verify your service), You will receive an e-mail instructing you how to print out a voucher to be redeemed for your free ticket.

Once you print your voucher, you can use it for free admission to six Disney theme parks in the United States:

The free Disney theme park ticket is not valid for use on certain days, so review the blackout dates before you make your vacation plans. The minimum age to participate in the program is 6 years old.

The Give a Day, Get a Disney Day promotion replaces the 2009 Free Admission on Your Birthday campaign, which expires on Dec. 31, 2009. If you have a birthday coming up, you can still celebrate it for free at Disneyland or Walt Disney World.

It’s not often that Disney parks have great savings packages because, let’s face it, they don’t need help attracting visitors. However, due to the slowing economy, Disney’s hopped on the goofy foot and decided to offer a great package for Disney World in Orlando guests. When you buy a four-night package, you’ll get three nights FREE. And that includes theme park tickets!

For most stays from Jan. 4 to June 27, 2009, if you buy a non-discounted four-night/four-day Walt Disney Company Magic Your Way package, you’ll get three extra days and nights for free. The Magic Your Way package includes a stay at a Disney Value Resort, with your choice for anything from luxury to campground, and a single-park ticket per person per day. All guests per accommodation must have the same ticket and package option for it to be valid.

Think that’s a deal? Disney will also throw in a $200 Disney gift card, valid anywhere from Disney parks to Disney Stores across the United States, when you travel anytime between Jan. 4 to 9, and from Jan. 19 to March 29. “This special travel offer makes it even easier for guests to enjoy a magical, memory-making Disney vacation in 2009,” says Walt Disney World President Meg Crofton.

According to Disney, a family of four can spend seven days and seven nights at the Happiest Place on Earth for as little as $1,271, with a savings of more than $300. However, rates vary according to guest ages, travel dates and lodging choice; so the best way to figure out how much this deal can save your family is to visit the Disney Web site and book your package disneyworld.disney.go.com.

Think you know a little something about making the best of a day at Walt Disney World? Do you pride yourself on being able to optimize fun at one of the world’s most notoriously packed theme parks? Then Disney wants you!

Disney Parks announced yesterday that they’re looking for 16 park-savvy parents to be on the 2009 Walt Disney World Moms Panel. The first Disney World Moms Panel, which was launched last year, has already answered more than 9,000 questions on everything from character dining experiences to what items are allowed in the park.

If you think you rule the roost when it comes to Disney vacations, go to www.disneyworldmoms.com until Sept. 19 to fill out an application. The application process includes a list of questions to answer and three essays: one on your family, one on why you would make a great Disney vacation planner and one about your favorite Disney vacation. The 16 parents who are chosen for the panel will receive a five-night, six-day stay at the Walt Disney World Resort for four people in exchange for their Disney expertise in 2009.

High-Bouncing Fun

Posted by Ashleigh Nushawg Aug 28, 2008

Want to find something to do this Labor Day weekend? For those of you in the Southern California area, Knott’s Berry Farm, home to the beloved Snoopy and his Peanuts gang, will be hosting the 3rd Annual Vurtego World Championships of Pogo Sticking.

Twenty expert pogo stickers will showcase their talent and skills in a multi-event competition, which takes place on Monday, Sept. 1. Events will include the Free Ride, the High Jump and the challenging Obstacle Course. Guests to the park will have a chance to watch some of the most talented pogo stickers in North America, several of whom have been featured on television shows such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, America’s Got Talent, Late Show with David Letterman and The Today Show.

Over the past few years, pogo sticks have evolved from childhood toys to innovative, action sport equipment. The new technology has help to elevate the sport from mere child’s play to a hard-core, high-bouncing sport. The use of lightweight air springs helps propel athletes as high as 8 feet into the air. These technological improvements also mean that these daredevils can do some impressive flips and tricks, like jumping over cars! “This is really a brand new sport that’s really as urban as it gets. It will be fun to watch it grow,” says Brian Spencer, founder of Vurtego Pogo Sticks, which will be sponsoring the event, and host of Planet X, a nationally syndicated action sports TV show.

The event begins at 11 a.m. in Calico Square in the Ghost Town area of Knott’s Berry Farm. Audience members will also have a chance to participate in some pogo stick competitions and have the opportunity to win prizes.

Entrance to the competition is included with park admission. To purchase tickets or learn more about Knott’s Berry Farm, visit knotts.com.

Silver Dollar City, one of Branson, Missouri’s most popular family destinations, is in the midst of celebrating its biggest Kids Fest ever. The family adventure theme park has been celebrating all things kids all summer long with special shows, contests and more, but the fest ends August 10.

This year come see “The Magic of Peter Gossamer,” one of the world’s greatest illusionists, the all-new Ice Circus and every young child’s favorite, “VeggieTales Presents: The Invention of Silliness.” At the Ice Circus, prepare to blow your mind as a performer manages to solve a Rubik’s Cube on the ice while juggling! Now that’s multi-tasking.

For crafty children, the folks of Kid Concoctions will be on hand to show children that learning is fun through some great hands-on activities. Kids will learn things like the secret recipe for Gooey Gunk and how to make volcanoes (I’m sure moms everywhere will be thrilled!).

On top of all of this, Silver Dollar City has more than 30 rides and attractions, including 10 family rides. Don’t miss the World’s Largest Treehouse at Geyser Gulch, a great place to stay cool while visiting the park.

Hurry to Silver Dollar City before all of the family-fun is over! Also, don’t forget to stay tuned to TravelMuse in the middle of August when Branson will be our featured destination.
