Vancouver Island Vacation and Trip Information

Vancouver Island (named after British Royal Navy officer, George Vancouver), is a large island in British Columbia, Canada. It is Canada’s second-largest island and features a wide variety of geographical features including coastal temperate rain forests, rivers, lakes, mountains and more. 

The island is home to several resorts, including Painter’s Lodge, which offers everything from salmon fishing in Campbell River to wildlife tours through the natural surroundings. For a day of relaxation, the Painter’s Lodge runs 10-minute water taxis that take you to the sister resort, April Point Resort and Spa. Or you can embark on an outdoor adventure by kayaking through the Pacific Ocean or taking a guided tour of the island’s historic sites.

There are also several opportunities to experience wildlife viewing, with boat tours that take you whalewatching. On a scenic drive of the island, you may even spot animals in their natural habitats, such as bears, eagles and sea lions. To explore beyond Vancouver Island, you can visit some of the major tourist destinations including Victoria, which is the largest city on the island, Salt Spring Island and the Gulf Islands.
