Denmark is a country in Northern Europe which borders both the Baltic and the North Sea. The country consists of a large peninsula, Jutland, which borders northern Germany, plus a number of major islands—most notably Zealand, Funen, Vendsyssel-Thy, Lolland, Falster and Bornholm—and hundreds of minor islands often referred to as the Danish Archipelago.
Denmark was once the seat of Viking raiders and later became a major north European power. It has evolved into a modern, prosperous nation that is participating in the general political and economic integration of Europe. The capital city, Copenhagen, is a major tourist draw, although Denmark is also full of other historic cities and attractions, like the Ribe Viking Center and Egeskov Castle. Denmark is also the birthplace of one of the world's most popular toys—Lego bricks. The best place in the world to buy Lego products and celebrate this piece of pop culture is the Legoland theme park in Billund.
