Montego Bay, or Mo-Bay as referred to by the locals, is the second largest city in Jamaica. Montego Bay is a resort town known for its white sandy beaches including Doctor’s Cave Beach and Fletcher Beach, where visitors can go swimming, snorkeling and diving. Other adventures within Jamaica’s natural surroundings include swimming with the dolphins at Dolphin Cove, zip lining through the trees of nearby Lethe and bird watching at the Rockland Bird Sanctuary.
Listen to some live reggae music as you walk past local shops or dine at one of the many restaurants that line Gloucester Avenue, also known as the Hip Strip. The City Centre and Half Moon Shopping Village are some of the popular places for duty-free shopping in Montego Bay.
For a taste of the area’s rich history, visit the nearby Sam Sharpe Square which was named after Samuel Sharpe, a national hero in Jamaica who fought against slavery in the early 1800s. Or explore the mysterious Rose Hall Great House, the former home of the “White Witch of Jamaica,” Annie Palmer, whose spirit supposedly still roams the former sugar plantation.
