With over 300 cinemas including modern multiplex halls of up to 15 screens, one of the favorite city pastimes is to take in a movie. Among the best-known theatres for live drama or comedy are the Centro Teatral Manolo Fábregas and the Teatro Insurgentes. Both classic and contemporary music concerts by local and international artists are frequent and can be enjoyed at the Auditorio Nacional, Foro Sol, Teatro Metropólitan, Palacio de los Deportes and the monumental Estadio Azteca.

The Teatro del Palacio de Bellas Artes is unparalleled for classical music and opera performances along with the Ollin Yoliztli, the Sala Nezahualcoyotl and Auditorio Blas Galindo. Nightlife is important business in Mexico City. Its discos offer the best current hits and live action for all tastes and La Boom is one of the hottest. On the bar scene, the variety is virtually limitless. Theme pubs include the Liverpool Pub and among the popular cantinas, try La Hija de Moctezuma.
