Zihuatanejo sits in the state of Guerrero in the Mexican Riveria in the southwestern corner of Mexico. This city has only been going by this name for a couple of centuries (and previously went by Cihuatlán, then Ciguatanejo).
Once a matriarchal society filled with gold and gems, Zihuatanejo now has a reputation as a premier fishing spot, as it is situated in a bay guarded by a barrier—it’s disputed whether this protection is man-made or natural.
Try your luck in this Old World Mexican fishing village with a trip on one of Bertram Boats Sportfishing Charters; have lunch on the beach at the highly recommended restaurant La Perla. Take a sunset cruise form the Puerto Mio pier or swim with dolphins at Delfiniti.
