Stockholm, Sweden’s capital, is located on the country’s east coast. It has recently gained a reputation as a food metropolis in Europe. Besides its plethora of restaurants and cafés, Stockholm boasts a history of fashion and interior design, and is also the home of the Nobel Prize.

The city’s architecture dates back to the 15th century, though the city experienced much demolition during modernization efforts in the middle of the 20th century. There are three major shopping districts in Stockholm: Upper Drottninggatan, a trendier area with both department and local stores: Östermalm, where international stores and exclusive boutiques reside; and SoFo and Götgatan, home to laid back boutiques and cafes. Seasons vary drastically in Stockholm, so dress appropriately as you do your shopping.
