Tanzania is an east African country located on the Indian Ocean coastline and borders Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, the Congo, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. The country gets its name from a combination of Tanganyika, the name of the country’s large mainland territory, and Zanzibar, the country’s offshore archipelago.

The country is home to Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa, as well as the lake bed of Lake Tanganyika, which is the continent’s lowest point. Warm and sunny days are followed by cool and balmy nights, and whether you’re on safari on the Serengeti plains or enjoying the tropical beaches of Zanzibar, the temperatures are usually welcoming and gentle throughout the country.

Tanzania offers some of the best wildlife spotting opportunities on the continent, so be sure to check out at least one of the country’s many national parks and reserves to experience the flora and fauna of Africa. Some of the most popular parks include Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Kilimanjaro National Park.
