Willcox, a farming community founded in 1880, is a city in Cochise County, Arizona. Willcox is a car trip away from several nearby popular cities such as Tucson, Arizona.

The city is best known for its annual “Wings Over Willcox Birding and Nature Festival,” when thousands of Sandhill cranes’ migrate to Southern Arizona for the winter. The city plans several activities for the Martin Luther King weekend, including animal displays and organized field trips, that provide a look into the nature, history and agriculture of Willcox. There are also guided tours that take you past several popular tourist destinations including Sulphur Springs Valley as well as Chiricahua National Monument, where you can see unique rock formations that were caused by an ancient volanic eruption. Or you can make a pit stop at the Fort Bowie National Historic Site, which is the site of bitter conflict between the Chiricahua Apaches and United Stated military in the 1880s.
