It offers more affordable lodging and dining, and a charming downtown with great shopping options, from clothing boutiques to jewelry shops and ski/snowboard shops. While Truckee often gets passed by as visitors head to Lake Tahoe, the town and surrounding area are an all-season outdoor haven in its own right.
