Squaw Valley at Lake Tahoe, California, became famous after hosting the 1960 Winter Olympics, transforming the small ski slope with one chairlift into a magnificent world-class resort. Squaw Valley boasts challenging ski terrain, but also offers summertime hiking and biking trails, tennis and golf; visit Golf Squaw Creek to putt among stunning views of Lake Tahoe and mountains. Check out High Camp by cable car, where you can see breathtaking views of the valley or stargaze at night.
The Village at Squaw Valley is essentially a small, bustling town next to the ski slopes; the Village offers 285 ski-in/ski-out condominiums, six restaurants and 20 retail stores. The Village also hosts events and festivals throughout the year including the Squaw Valley Pacific Fine Arts Festival in late June, and the July Movie and Music series.
