Julian, a mining town located in San Diego County, California is also a California Historical Landmark. Gold was discovered here in 1869. An inactive mine is still available for tours, and those who hope to strike it rich pan for gold in nearby Banner Creek. The picturesque setting attracts antique hunters, apple lovers (especially during apple harvest season) and visitors who want to take it easy in the quiet mountain town.
