Snowmass Village is a ski resort and town in Colorado that’s part of the Aspen/Snowmass four-resort consortium. Less glamorous than its big sister, Aspen, Snowmass still offers a huge ski terrain (more than 3,000 acres) and some of the best vertical terrain—including steeps, cliffs and backcountry—in the United States. Snowmass was also the first U.S. ski resort to operate a lift run solely on renewable wind power.
Snowmass Village offers an array of dining options ranging from casual pub food like local favorite Zane’s Tavern to the more chic Artisan Restaurant and Sage at the Snowmass Club. The Anderson Ranch Arts Center is a learning community and center for creativity, with open art galleries and workshops.
Snowmass offers a wealth of outdoor activities throughout the year from mountain biking, hiking, golf and disc golf; it offers two 18-hole disc golf courses. Other après ski activities include the popular free Snowmass music series, held every Thursday night during the summer on Fanny Hill. Don’t forget the Snowmass Village Balloon Festival held each fall.
This tony ski resort town is appealing in winter and summer. It even can be surprisingly affordable.
