Best hotels, facts and information in Panama City Beach

In the northwest of Florida along the Gulf of Mexico and St. Andrews Bay, Panama City Beach offers 27 miles of white sand beaches to travelers. Officially founded on May 2, 1936, the beaches have become a popular domestic spring break destination for college students, but long ago the Bay was popular amongst pirates hoping to acquire their booty from ships in route for Mexico or Spain.

While treasure may no longer be an attraction, there’s plenty to do for all ages, from amusement parks to golf courses to the thick forest and sand dunes of St. Andrews State Recreation Area. Open since 1951, the park provides over 1,200 acres for biking, hiking, camping, swimming and boating on the Gulf and around the Grand Lagoon. With an average of 320 days of sunshine per year and an average temperature of 78 degrees, there’s plenty of time to enjoy all the activities.
