Fernandina Beach is a historic beachside town on northeastern Florida’s Amelia Island. Formerly a bustling seaport—and considered the birthplace of the U.S. shrimping industry—Fernandina Beach is now a charming community that has largely preserved its Victorian-era historic quarter.
The annual Shrimp Festival takes place the first week of May, and features more than 300 arts and crafts booths, antiques, shrimp food specialties, live music and a kids’ Fun Zone. Downtown Fernandina Beach on Centre Street is where you’ll find an assortment of antiques shopping, book shops, clothing boutiques and several bed and breakfasts. Another area attraction, Fort Clinch State Park, offers forest hiking, beach swimming and fishing off the pier.
Feed blue crabs, sleep in Victorian bed and breakfasts, and take a Segway nature tour on your Amelia Island vacation.
