Tucked at the foot of the Selkirk Mountains in Idaho’s northern panhandle, Sandpoint is a small town with a wealth of activities and attractions to please any visitor. Sandpoint lies on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho’s largest lake. Tour the lake’s 111 miles of shoreline on a kayak tour, river cruise or fishing charter, or play some beach volleyball at City Beach. If you’re a winter sport enthusiast, visit Schweitzer Mountain Resort, which offers 2,400 vertical feet and almost 3,000 skiable acres—it’s one of the largest resorts in North America. Schweitzer offers a mix of family-friendly runs, terrain parks, and backcountry and nordic trails.

Downtown Sandpoint’s eclectic shopping options including clothing stores like Coldwater Creek (a homegrown company), art, antiques and galleries; a devoted arts community, Sandpoint has more than a dozen artists’ galleries. The Pend Oreille Arts Council also promotes Sandpoint’s arts community with summertime outdoor concerts, an Artwalk and an Arts and Crafts Fair. Other top attractions include the Cedar Street Bridge marketplace, the Farmers’ Market, the Pend d’Oreille Winery, several area golf courses and Silverwood Theme Park, located 25 miles south of Sandpoint.
