Louisville lies on the north-central border with Indiana and along the Ohio River, which transformed the city into a bustling shipping port by the mid-1800s. Some favorite attractions include the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, which houses the largest baseball bat (six stores tall!); Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom amusement park; and the Speed Art Museum with a collection ranging from 17th century Flemish art to contemporary American sculpture.
