Plymouth, the original landing site of the Mayflower, is a town in Massachusetts. Each year, Plymouth hosts the annual “America’s Hometown Parade” on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Plymouth houses several landmarks that provide a look into the rich history of the town including the Mayflower II and the National Monument of Forefathers (one of the largest granite monuments in the United States). Plymouth’s most famous tourist attraction is Plymouth Rock, which was the disembarkation site of William Bradford in 1620. The Pilgrim’s Hall Museum offers a look into the history and lives of Bradford and the Pilgrims. For kid-oriented activities, spend a day exploring Imagination Island or learn about the mysteries of space at the Blake Planetarium. Or attend a family show at Plymouth Memorial Hall, which was recently transformed into a performing arts center and concert hall.
Communities pull out all the stops to celebrate the November holiday with family-oriented parades.
