Ann Arbor is a college town with charisma. The city in southeastern Michigan offers a lively downtown area and its eclectic nightlife includes blues and jazz venues and comedy clubs, like the popular Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase. A diverse arts community, Ann Arbor boasts four summer art fairs, dozens of private galleries (displaying works ranging from stained glass to ceramics to fine art), and several world-class museums, including the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and the University of Michigan Museum of Art (currently undergoing an expansion, the UMMA will reopen March 28, 2009).

Go to a football game at Michigan Stadium—the largest college-owned stadium in the country. And for naturalists, Ann Arbor offers 147 public parks, seven golf courses and excellent hiking trails at the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum and the Waterloo Recreation Area.
