The adjoining cities of Raleigh and Durham in North Carolina are two of the three cities that make up “the Triangle” in the central Wake County (the third is Chapel Hill). Durham is home to the prestigious Duke University, while Raleigh is the capital of North Carolina and home to North Carolina State University.
Durham has been known as the “Bull City” after the Blackwell Tobacco Company’s Bull Durham Tobacco. The city is also referred to as the “City of Medicine”, due to healthcare being a major industry in the area.
There are plenty of natural attractions and superb hiking in this beautiful area and Raleigh/Durham is known for its trendy arts culture. Durham is home to many festivals throughout the year, such as: the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, the American Dance Festival, and the Bull Durham Blues Festival.
