Beach Haven, N.J. is the entertainment center of Long Beach Island, a family-friendly, laid-back community where you’re never more than a quarter mile from sand and sea. Though a small town, Beach Haven’s Bay Village and Schooner’s Wharf are bustling tourist hubs full of shops, several restaurants and upscale hotels. Beach Haven is also home to Fantasy Island Amusement Park, which features classics like bumper cars, a giant Ferris wheel, spinning teacups and a carousel (built to resemble the ornate Victorian carousels of the early 1900s).
Beach Haven’s historical district offers walking tours of Victorian and Colonial-era restored homes. Other island attractions include Thundering Surf Water Park, which feature waterslides and two 18-hole golf courses. Getting back to nature, the Alliance for a Living Ocean offers island eco-tours during July and August. The most famous annual festival is the Chowderfest in October, which features a cook-out competition and live music.
