If you love the outdoors, then you’ll love Tennessee. The state is filled with lush mountain ranges, like the ever-beautiful Great Smoky Mountains and Iron Mountains, found in Tennessee’s Blue Ridge region. Fill your days with hikes on the Appalachian Trail, which runs through the Great Smokies, or paddle down the Ocoee River for some impressive white water rafting. If you prefer to limit your outdoor activities to those that occur below ground, Tennessee has almost to 9,000 caves, more than any other state.

If music is what moves you to travel, Tennessee is the place to be. Blues, bluegrass and country are just a few of the musical styles that the Volunteer State is famous for. Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, B.B. King and The King (Elvis, of course) are just a few of the many musical legends who have called Tennessee home. Make your way into a honky-tonk for the full Tennessean musical experience.

American history buffs will relish in the vast amount of historical attractions scattered throughout Tennessee. There are Civil War battlefields located near most major cities, owing to the fact that the state was a highly contested area between the North and the South. Don’t miss out on the birthplace of American folk hero Davy Crockett, at the Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park in Greene County. The park includes a replica of Crockett’s birth cabin, a museum, and a large campground.
