We are planning a motorcycle trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway perhaps going as far as Georgia. Does anyone have any interesting stops along the way or great places to eat or stay; would welcome any input. Thanks
I grew up in Virginia and went to school in the Shenandoah Valley, a short drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway. You're in for a great trip. The BRP is a treasure trove of American history and culture. It's been 15 years since I was last there, but that part of America - thankfully - remains largely the same as it was 200 years ago.

We've driven the BRP from end to end, but never in a single trip. It's an amazing road with an amazing story. We've enjoyed every interpretive site along the way. At the southern end, you're high in the Smokey Mountains and the scenery is breathtaking. As you travel north, and to lower elevations, you find many opportunities to explore the lives of those who lived here over the past 2 1/2 centuries. And, short distances off the Parkway are Civil War battlefields which will give you insight into the greatest American tragedy.
