We upgraded our room to a Camino Club room upon arrival at the hotel. This includes a room with a bay view, the breakfast buffet, 2-hour cocktail hour in the evening, robes, cookies in the afternoon , and a concierege service (which we did not utilise). Initially, we were assigned a room in close proximity to the construction site next door, but the front desk changed it with no problem. The setting is beautiful, there are plenty of chairs (both in sun & shade) at the 3 pools, the hotel & grounds are clean & well-kept. The beach area is very small and private. The food at the hotel is fresh and well prepared, however it is boring, bland, and overpriced. The drinks are expensive if you drink outside the free club cocktail hour. Located in the Diamante district, cab fares to town or outside restaurants are a minimum 20.00 each way using the taxis at the hotel. We arranged for a private driver during our stay negotiating our itinerary and prices beforehand. At any rate, taxi costs (should you wish to travel anywhere outside the hotel ) will be considerable. Our room (#517) had an on-going problem with air conditioning failure throughout our stay, however it was always promptly resolved. The employees are courteous and aim to please. Some have a better command of English than others. The hotel is popular with Mexican nationals from Mexico City seeking a week-end escape, and the hotel does host business gatherings. If you are seeking a quiet getaway in a location that is remote from downtown Acapulco this is a good choice. If you are looking for pumped-up action and activites, seek another venue.

Great location; good facilities; below average restaurants. For a place that is a fair distance from the town and other eateries, the food at the restaurants was very mediocre. Prices, of course, were above average!!

This is a great find- very secluded and quiet with all the amenities needed. Don't get caught taking food/drinks in from outside like we did- they give you hard time. The beds were hard, but we got used to it. The pools are wonderful! Poolside service is slow though- took forever to get a drink! Very clean and friendly service. Taxi rides averaged 10-12 each way to go anywhere!

Overall we like Camino Real. It's not cheap - expect nice US hotel prices for food and services. Food was ok to good, but we enjoyed other restaurants more. Nice and quiet, great pools, rooms were nice. Beds were somewhat uncomfortable.
