I stayed here once in 2008 and it was a mess of a motel. It felt like I was being sucked into some horrible horror movie where I was going to get slashed...

Called and were told we could park both vehicles at hotel. When we arrived, the manager stated that he was in charge, and only 1 car was allowed in the lot. (There is not enough parking for each room to have a space). We had to park our vehicle with handicap placard over a half mile away...and pay 15 a day for it. (In all fairness, you CAN park on the street, if you can find a spot...and move your vehicle every 2 hours until 6pm). We did arrive early and were told that we could not check in until 3pm. We sat across the strret at Subway, and watched countless people check in. At check in, I was charged more than the travel website had quoted me. At this point, I was tired and wanted out of the sweltering heat! Small room had extra tiny bedroom...That was a plus, as was the fridge. Room was remodled and clean. The worst part was the air conditioning. It only works when you are in the room with the door deadbolted. No coming back to a cooled room!! It does NOT reach the second bedroom, nor does it cool the main room. It was over 100 degrees outside, and by 7pm, it was still an oven in the room. We had to open all the windows and door to get some relief. The Vons at the corner has a security officer outside, and there is lots of graffiti around... NOT worth the 150. (inflated rates, due to festival) Stayed here for LB Pride.

We arrived the evening of the 22nd, April 2008 to the small downtown Long Beach Rodeway Inn to find a well maintained establishment. I had actually been recommended this hotel by a colleague who had stayed there the month previous. He and I have traveled on business together and he knows my requiremements for cleanliness and convenience. Boy, was he right! The office has a bit of the downtown feel but is staffed with smiling well groomed employees. a fantastic first impression! The desk agent worked diligently to find a room that met the needs of some friends I had brought along unannounced. I knew it was gamble not making their reservations ahead of time but not only did they get the room they wanted it was conveniently next door to mine. Next, the courtyard is the parking lot, no pool, but we didn't care as we wanted to take in the sights. Having this feature increased the safety of one's auto. I was able to park my care outside of my room door for a calming sense and ease of access. Entering the rooms we found clean, modern, maintained accomadations. I was so pleased! Then after opening my luggage I remembered the price. "I am going to stay here everytime I come to Long Beach." I told myself. For this was a secret jewel. For those traveling on business and those out and about I fully recommend the Rodeway on Atlantic. After a hard day of shopping, meetings or playing tourist this is great place to come home and hang your hat. It is within walking distance of every heart's desire. Restaurants galore! There is even a VON'S grocery store up the block!

Room smelled like smoke, furniture was falling apart, paint was literally peeling off the walls. Their is little or no noise insulation and you can hear the faintest whisper through the walls. However, if you are a heavy sleeper, who wants free internet and is on a budget this might be the place for you.
