If you stay at an Extended Stay expect the amenity and service level of an Extended Stay. If you stay at a Ritz-Carlton, expect Ritz-Carlton. That said,...

My husband and I always stay at ESA when we want a break from the Phoenix heat. The rooms are large, it has a full kitchen, parking is ample and we always get a great rate on the room. We like to travel with our dog and this hotel does take animals. We did have a problem with the A/C but a maintenance person was up within 5 minutes to fix it.

At first glance, the room appeared ""made up"". I soon noticed FRESH urine on the toilet seat, followed by hair in the bed, make-up on the pilllowcase, and hair in the shower. Yuck. Also, when I turned the televsion on, the first two channels didn't work. I called the front desk to report this. Towards the end of the second day, I realized that beyond the first two channels, the tv was actually fine. That would have been nice to know for the day and a half before.

If you're looking for a reasonable alternative to the fold out couch at your relatives, treat yourself. The rooms are large, the kitchen is a great feature. The staff was very helpful and courteous, and the bed was comfy. Not a five star or a resort--but really good at what they are.
