This Polynesian and Tiki motor hotel, recently added to the Palm Springs Historic Resources Survey, is located approximately one mile from downtown Palm Springs and three miles from Palm Springs International Airport. This was a popular celebrity hangout in the 60's and is roughly two miles from the convention center, three miles from Cathedral City and nine miles from Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.The property's amenities include the therapeutic spa, the 3rd largest swimming pool in Palm Springs, and shuffleboard court. Reserve a full-service massage, facial or body wrap at the Retreat Spa. Enjoy dining and libations at La Casita Restaurant and the Reef Tiki Bar and Patio. The Reef is open Friday thru Sunday (low season).All rooms feature ceiling fans, A/C, hairdryers, fridge, L. Times daily, safe, desk, phone w/data port & voicemail. Pet-Friendly rooms available with advance notice. 15.00 + tax charge for each pet nightly. A 4% Resort Fee will be collected by the Hotel at check-in. Reception Hours: 7AM-11PM Sunday-Thurs and 7AM-2 AM Fri& Sat.

This hotel was very clean, AC worked really well. Just be warned that all of the rooms are non smoking and travelocity does not mention that anywhere. The hotel was great though!

We checked in easily and quickly. They have free wifi in the rooms. It was clean and cute. the bathroom was not new but well kept. The sheets and bedding was clean and new. The AC ran very cold, that was very good. I wish they had left more towels. We only had two and would have liked some for the pool. The pool is big and a little warmer than i would have liked, but nice. I loved the vintage flair.

I was a bit scared at first when I found this place online because of the low 48 weekday rates during the summer months. When I arrived and entered my room I was so surprise. It was a nice clean room. The pool area at nights was very inviting. I live in the desert area just a short drive to palm springs but this is definately where I'll be staying when I visit the casinos. I can't believe they have such low rates. How do they stay in business. During my stay their was a lady wining and complaining at the desk because she found a caterpillar on the carpet. Hello! this is the desert, and its summer. The caterpillars are found all over the desert, they come from our palm trees and its their mating cycle. They are harmless little things. I can't imagine how she would of reacted if she found a scorpion! I guess because I live in the desert and take these thing lightly. Their is no way any hotel can control our native buddies from entering the rooms once in a while looking to cool off. The hotel and staff was great.

Caliente Tropics is an older motel style hotel with lot's of history. It is a fun place to be. They have nice front desk staff and really clean rooms. We had an awsome time at the pool this weekend. They have a grassy area next to the pool with barbeque grills available for guest to use, so we did. We grilled burgers and hotdogs. It was fun and best of all we were able to bring our dog along. Rates are very low during the summer. I recommend this hotels for families.
