The hotel was top notch with good facilities and plenty of activities for families. The rooms were clean and spacious and the staff was courteous. However, we found the service to be extremely poor. When we arrived at the hotel they couldn't find our reservation. We were asked to wait for an hour while they scrambled to prepare a room. No one helped us with our luggage and when we finally got to our room it was so late that we had to cancel our dinner reservations. In the morning, the breakfast buffet was skimpy and when we arrived they had run out of most items. Finally, the wait staff in the restaurant forgot to put in our breakfast order so our meal came 45 minutes later.

I have stayed at this hotel on a number occasions and it never lets us down. From the greeting and wine at check-in to the staff in the restaurants and golf facility we have never had reason to find fault. The rooms are very spacious and well furnished, we particularly like the bathrooms and window seats. We have never experienced any noise disruption from other guests or adjacent businesses and love the surrounding putting greens, golf course and views of the hills. Obviously, it is in the valley and not in Carmel-by-the-sea but we prefer the peace and tranquility ,not to mention the better weather available a few miles inland. My most recent visit was booked via online travel website as there were no rooms available directly from the hotel. Even on a holiday weekend, the online travel website rate beat the hotel's published price.

Reserved for 2 nights, checked out after first. Beware of Cantina right across street. Very loud music/partying until 12 midnight. Not very relaxing. Staff did discount night, and offered to upgrade us for free, but decided to leave. Nice hotel, but not worth the price tag. If staying make sure your room is away from cantina. We had a room right in front of pool, which turned out to be right across from cantina. Recommend staying in Carmel By Sea instead of Carmel Valley

Loved the Quail Lodge. Stayed in one of the Fairway Villas. Very nice! It was huge, had 2 fireplaces, private patio with hottub. The staff made us a cake to celebrate our anniversary. The grounds are nice, but we didn't have much time to explore them. The restaurant (The Covey) is nice and food is tasty. The menu is a little limited. My girlfriend does not eat meat and there was a very limited selection for her.Overall a great visit and we can't wait to go back.
