This is not a 4 four star motel. We had a worn thirty year old bathroom in need of replacement, stained carpet, old undersized television, and paper thin walls.

Nice location, close enough to activities but far enough away that you don't have to fight parking. Clean rooms with character. I wasn't impressed with the hotel resteraunt selection but there are plenty of other places to eat.

I only stayed at this place because the Hilton Garden Inn, which I am familiar with in name, was sold out already due to a golf function in the area the following weekend unbeknownst to me. I booked this place while I still could. The only thing available was a room with a (electric) fireplace. It was a nice touch, though personally not needed. It was, however, in a package that included tickets already for the Aquarium, and for two days the same price as one, which was nice. I like the place a lot. My only "complaint" (not really a complaint, but to nitpick) is that the parking was very tight in the lot. My only ACTUAL complaint is that I was not even aware that there was (amazingly) not even air conditioning in the room, only heat! To their credit, they did have a posted notice by the heater that fans could be requested on availability from the front desk...but still odd for a hotel this nice and at the price we paid. I never found out if they had fans in or not, as I usually have to travel with one anyway for white noise to sleep as well as for the cooler temp, so I just used mine. The room overall was nicer than many, and the bathroom had a separate shower as well as a bathtub. Oh yes...one other minor complaint...dont decide to stay here based on the "breakfast" they say is included. It was about the most ridiculous one I have ever seen. There was coffee and some muffins that werent very good in the first place...not even juice out! Amazing! See my tip about another place for breakfast thx to an employee. The aquarium is @ 10 minutes by cab (no shuttle).

We stayed with family for a weekend getaway at the Casa Munras Hotel. It is a 4-star hotel and 4-star restaurant and we could easily see why! The Restaurant, Esteban, is easily among the best we have ever eaten at. The seas bass and salmon were delicious and moist and the service was world class. The hotel accomodations made us feel as if we were staying in a European villa - just beautiful! Our family visiting from out of town was so amazed that we have such a wonderful gourmet restaurant and hotel right here in Monterey! We will come here for dinner often (we live in Carmel), and will stay again! It's our new favorite place to eat!

This was a lovely place to stay. The front desk staff was a delight to deal with and really went far beyond what I expected. I was in the new section whic hwas very nice--the older area didn't look as good. The wireless internet didn't work well at all. The breakfast was better than most continental breakfasts. It was close to everything and easy to get to.
