A collection of small "casitas" with courtyards, it's quiet and charming, if a little dark and down at heel for the price. The staff is extremely uninformed...

Beware: misleading advertising
We booked a two-night stay based on the nice photos on the hotel's website, which make it look like DGS offers big, clean, fancy suites. We fig...

I'd stay there again
Although they messed up the Travelocity billing and instead billed our credit card, our room, an oversized queen, was lovely, handpainted decor...

We're going back to this place again soon
I agree completely with review "Authenic New Mexico". We were there 12/05, stayed in one of the ground-level casitas, and loved the historic f...

Absolutely horrible experience. I called to say I would be arriving late. They said "fine". I arrived to find the office closed and no information posted as to who I should contact. Luckily, I was aware there was a sister hotel nearby and went there to check in. They tried to charge me the wrong amount - I am still dealing with incorrect billing after at least half a dozen phone calls and a fax to the general manager. I stayed for two nights and the room was not cleaned, nor were clean towels provided for the second night. Do yourself a favor and stay away from here.

If so, then this is the place for you. We stayed in a casita and so did a sizeable rat (think average sized NYC subway rat), and about a thousand ants. After being put in the wrong room for the first night-- we reserved and paid for a casita, and were put in a small hotel room that literally had two twin beds pushed together with a king-sized sheet over them-- they moved us to a casita. Before moving us, they lectured us about arriving after 10:00pm, and said that our late arrival caused the room mix-up..? Huh? We were supposed to stay in the casita for a couple of nights, but ended up leaving and sleeping on the floor of a friend's house in town. We figured we'd let the rat and ants have the casita since the staff didn't seem to want to get rid of them or give us a new room. So, overall: bad rooms, average price, staff that is downright unfriendly, rats and rat droppings, and ants... stay elsewhere!!!

The ads and the web page lead you to belive there is just one type of room. Wrong. The casitas are the nice ones. The other rooms are terrible. DIdn't know there was a different and got stuck with the nastey room. Put a damber on our anniverery

The ad stated a room with a Fireplace. They had one but charge 10 to use it and did not supply matches or paper to light it. Terrible service, staff did not care that heat would not turn off in room and they never fixed it or even looked at it after 3 requests; breakfast was terrible, poor selection & quality. Staff never answered any of our complaints nor did they care in the least!

Nice premise and convenient but the signs were unlit, the room reeked of smoke, there were nasty (pet?) stains on carpet, dried blood on the sheets and bedspread, broken suitcase stand, and I had to empty our trash cans. We asked them to spray for the smoke and ended up buying our own. We almost moved to another motel but decided to tough it out since the room was our base for exploring Santa Fe and environs and we didn't spend that much time in it."

Provides pueblo-style bungalows filled with furniture and decor crafted by locals. Casitas include fireplace, kitchen and dining area.
