Where Las Vegas began. Built in 1906 The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino is located on The Fremont Street Experience. A historical landmark where visitors from all over the world visit this site every day. Located inside the hotel is a full casino/ the Bay City Diner/ and the San Francisco Shrimp Bar and Deli.
I've stayed all over Vegas on the strip and in downtown Golden Nugget, Plaza, and more, this place is the worst!!. Stayed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday...

Hotel is very outdated and old. I know that they want to preserve it's history, but it needs maintenance. The room and carpet smelled and need DEEP cleaning. The toilette never stopped running and the faucets were rusty. Access with my relatives wheelchair was not easy, and the room had stairs, which made it difficult to maneuver. Staff was very nice and casino was fun. I would stay again if need to.

Everything smells like cigarette smoke. The smoke is in the air conditioning ducts so even if you ask for a non-smoking room, there is smoke in your room. All my clothes smelt like smoke, this includes the ones that I still had packed in my baggage. The room had a strong deodorizer type smell, it was just awful. There is damage to the bathroom ceiling above the shower. The bathroom floor is dirty, this includes the sink counter. There was no hotel soap and the toilet did not apear to be clean. The carpet on the floor is dirty and smelled of deodorizer and smoke. It's dark blue, and you can see all the pieces of small rubbish on it. I did not sleep and lucky for me, I was there for only one night.

I understand Historic, however not to have assistance with your luggage is not acceptable. There was no refrigerator for medical purpose. The beds were Bunk beds and very hard, Will not stay there..........

Great Location, Friendly People, Good food, Valet - no covered parking small lot, No Bellman, Rooms small, Beds comfortable, Ask for an inside wall room away from Fremont Street if you want to get any sleep, Take shower before you go to bed - the hot water system is really bad, slots still take coins and give them. Historic yep!!

Hotel hasn't had any updating since the 1930?s.Far below the standards of any other Vegas off Strip hotel I've ever stayed. Free parking is 1.5 blocks from Hotel. Valet Parking is close, but time consuming to use. 10-20 a night will buy a world of difference in a Hotel. Desperately tried to change Hotels once I saw Golden Gate. Most rooms in all of Vegas were booked for a Saturday night.

This is the worst hotel I have ever seen. Dirty, nasty. Didn't have hot water for the 2 days I was there. The carpet is dirty. Full of white trash people. NO CLASS. I wouldn't even stay there if they paid me 500 a night!!!!!
Like stepping back to the 1950's. Its clean, with friendly people who seemed to have grown into the place. It thankfully lacks what we have c...
