This is BY FAR, the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. Here's a list of a few reasons why: 1) The staff is terrible. I don't think anyone at the front desk...

A small clean safe hotel in the perfect location!!! The room is small (a foot or two of space around the bed), but it is NYC, what do you expect? Great value for the money! Would stay again in a second.

Exactly what we were looking for. Clean, comfortable, very friendly hotel in the heart of the theater district. Very good price. Small rooms were great.

A small, budget hotel with a fantastic location and very attentive staff. Been to NYC many times but this hotel met all of our needs. Staff were helpful and courteous.

Typical small NYC hotel room. Awesome location, couldn't pick a better spot. Rooms clean, SUPER comfy bed. Great value....reminder to those new travelers to NYC..BOUTIQUE means small, not necessarily luxury...this is a great place and well worth the money as compared to what else is in the neighborhood.

The hotel was in a fantastic location! We were right in the middle of the theatre district and a block from Time Square. The rooms are very small, but with so much to do in New York who wants to stay in the room? The bathroom was a nice size and everything was very clean. We were never bothered by noise and always felt safe, even walking late at night. I would highly recommend this hotel for travelers on a budget. If you're looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. If you want an inexpensive, safe, clean hotel with a great location, the Mayfair is the right choice.

My first visit to NYC; went there to see as many shows as possible in 5 days. Mayfair Hotel was an EXCELLENT home base; theatres literally next door and across the street. Everything you could want within walking distance (Times Square, David Letterman, Empire State Building, Central Park, all kinds of restaurants, subway).Front desk staff was friendly and helped us w/subway to Brooklyn. Extremely comfortable bed/linens. Room/bathroom very clean. As others noted, rooms are tiny (could lie on the bed and touch the wall) but we were there literally to change clothes between sightseeing and going to a show, and coming back to sleep, so it didn't matter to us. We fit clothes for 5 day stay into small dressers w/no problem and stowed suitcases in closet. One day neighboring room was showering at same time I was, and I lost hot water at end of my shower but boyfriend had hot water when he showered 5 min. later.Wallpaper in hallways is nicked/torn in places;lobby is small - long and narrow like a hallway. Others mentioned tiny/slow elevator but our room was on 2nd floor so we took stairs instead. Wallpaper and everything in our room was fine.Nervous out-of-towner checked for bedbugs - no sign of them.No pool, no room service, no fitness club - but that wasn't why we were there. If my kids had been with me I would have chosen a different hotel w/a pool. Had a computer in our room; Internet glitched once for a couple of minutes but otherwise worked the whole time. Our room was at the back of the hotel and other than sirens, we did not hear any street noise. We are low-maintenance travelers and this low-cost, centrally located hotel worked GREAT for us.
