I stayed two nights at the Governor Hotel while attending a conference. I was very happy with my stay. The hotel is close to all transportation (streetcar, light rail) and within easy walking distance to sights, shops, and restaurants. My room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful. There are lovely architectural features worth viewing in the restaurant and meeting rooms that are not easy to find on your own; the staff can provide an information sheet and point them out upon request. I would definitely stay here again.

The VALLET was the Great! You pay 24 for overnight! Well worth it... The HOTEL is CLEAN & SIMPLE & ELAGANT in it's own way! It was hard not to notice the nasty smoke smells around every corner. I should have done more research. O

Historic hotel. First room bad thermostat. Repairman came quickly. Unfixability meant free upgrade to very nice suite. Lot abutting hotel offers 8 parking per 24 hrs from 7am. 1 block to convenience store from restaurant entrance. Near famous bookstore--Powell's. Access to rooms by strange back elevator unless staying in lovely renovated rooms with fireplaces on newer Elk's side, unavailable via internet. Did not experience dreadful smoke. Note: if you don't like room, complain. Free upgrade to superior quarters marks hotel excellence.

I have stayed here many times. This stay the room was small. However, the rooms with verandas and fireplaces are great. Starbucks and Jakes Restaurant connected to hotel.

I was disappointed by the small size of the room! The most disturbing thing was how awful the hallway smelled (just like I was in a smokey bar). My room was near the restaurant, but no excuse for the hallways smelling like that! Also, once I entered my room, it too smelled like smoke! I called downstairs and they put a room Ionizer in the hallway. (didn't help) I ended up opening the bathroom window and kept it open all night to have fresh air. I also put a towel on the carpet in front of the door. I don't think I'll be staying there again! very very disappointed

Facilities were under renovation so no pool or work out. The room thermostat was broken so after 2 hr wait for service we just went to bed. Couch was supposed to make into bed into second bed but no, so kids slept on the floor. ALL hallways thick in cigarette smoke. Parking was 24 a night. All in all, it is overrated and if you are non-smoker you will leave with all your clothes smelling like you've been indoctrinated. This hotel is for smokers plain and simple, service is mediocre and apparently more than the pools needs a renovation.
