Anguilla is a British overseas territory located in the eastern Caribbean, and is best known as a luxury tourist destination with its white sand beaches and dramatic coral reefs. Although the official currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar, U.S. dollars are also widely accepted.

Anguilla prides itself on remaining one of the most unspoiled of the Caribbean islands. Luxury resorts have popped up in recent years but the atmosphere remains more low-key than some neighboring destinations thanks, perhaps, to a lack of major developments like casinos. To experience the local culture, visiting the island during the Summer Festival in early August can be a treat, with two weeks of carnival celebrations, including the national sport of boat racing, that mark the island’s emancipation.
