China, more formally known as the People's Republic of China, is a country in Eastern Asia. It is about the same size as the United States and has the world's largest population. With coasts on the East China Sea, Korea Bay, Yellow Sea and South China Sea, it borders Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam to the South. Other bordering countries are Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan to the West; Russia and Mongolia to the North; and North Korea to the East.

Some of the most famous tourist attractions in China are Tibet (which shares Mount Everest with Nepal), the Great Wall of China, the Silk Road and the tropical paradise of Hainan Island. China is also home to dozens of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
