Gettysburg, known as the historical site of the Battle of Gettysburg, is a small town located in the central southern part of
Pennsylvania. To get a sense of the history of the town, there are several museums in Gettyburg including the
American Civil War Museum and the
Soldiers National Museum. Guided walking tours take you past historical landmarks along the neighborhood streets, such as the
Eisenhower Historic Site, the former home of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. As part of the
Farnworth House Candelight Ghost Walks, a tour guide dressed as a soldier from the 1800s introduces tales of the war as you walk through the historic house by candlelight. To broaden your overall experience, you can rent a horse from the
National Riding Stables, as you tour the
Gettysburg Battlefield, or you can plan a family trip to the performing animal theme park, the
Land of Little Horses.
