Best hotels, facts and information in Jerusalem

Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and the spiritual capital of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths; it’s also one of the oldest cities in the world, dating back 6,000 years. While the city has had its share of political strife and controversy, Jerusalem remains a popular cultural destination, widely regarded for its historical sites—such as the Dome of the Rock and the Wailing Wall—and art institutions, including the 20-acre Israel Museum, which features archaeology, European and Israeli art. The Israel Museum also houses the famous Dead Sea Scrolls, ancient texts from the Hebrew Bible. Jerusalem is also full of several memorials, such Yad Vashem to honor Jewish holocaust victims. Jerusalem boasts several prestigious universities including the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which has produced many Nobel laureates; the university’s Jewish National Library has more than five million books.
