Luxembourg, the famous site of the Battle of the Bulge, is a country in western Europe. Some of its neighboring countries include Belgium, France and Germany.
Luxembourg boasts impressive castles from the Middle Ages such as Vianden Castle, Beaufort Castle and Bourscheid Castle. To experience the culture and history of the town, join a Wenzel Walk, a tour that takes you through some of Luxembourg’s oldest quarters. Or venture on your own along the cobblestone streets and medieval-inspired buildings. Visit the local regions such as Mertert, Diekrich and Echternach (which is a short trip away from Luxembourg’s “Little Switzerland”). There are a collection of trails weaving through “Little Switzerland” where visitors can hike past rock formations, valleys and the River Sure (on which the area is located).
To further satisfy your knack for outdoor adventures, bike ride along one of the 15 routes in the Ardennes region that run through grassland areas and along rugged cliffs. Here you can also stop by the Museum of Battle of the Bulge or the International Open-Air Theater. Another popular area is the Land of the Red Rocks, mainly a business center for the iron and steel industry, which offers tourists a look into the modern architecture of Luxembourg consisting of glass and steel houses.
