The majestic Olympic Mountains that encompass the Olympic National Park lie on the Olympic Peninsula and feature 73 miles of wilderness coastline, glacier-capped peaks and subalpine meadows rife with wildflowers. The park is also home to one of the only primeval temperate rain forests in the world.
Visit Hurricane Ridge for spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, which features an informative visitor’s center and a variety of hiking trails. In the western part of the park, visit the lush, fern-filled, mossy canopies of the Hoh Rain Forest—which receives 12 to 14 feet of rain annually. Find other rain forests in the Quinnault, Queets and Bogachiel valleys. Explore the Olympic coastline, which features varied stretches of beach from boulder- and driftwood-strewn to the white-sand beaches of Kalaloch.
