Cabo San Lucas is a city in Baja California Sur, Mexico, and a high-end holiday destination. It is a varied place that captures the essence of the Baja Peninsula with its many resorts, championship golf courses, world-class dining and amazing outdoor activities.

Los Cabos includes the infamous Cabo San Lucas and the tamer, more family-oriented San José del Cabo to the North. Come early for this prime snorkeling location. Playa Santa Maria is well-known as one of the best beaches near Cabo for underwater wildlife. Its curved north wall shelters a reef where tropical fish live and eat. Most of the tour operators offering snorkeling tours will be bringing tourists to this beach around 10a. Beat the crowds (and the blanket and jewelry sellers) and have the beach to yourself by arriving earlier.

Todos Santos is a small coastal town on the Pacific coast side of the Baja California peninsula in Mexico, about 43 miles north of the hustle of Cabo San Lucas. Colonized as a mission town, it was reborn in the mid-1800s as a sugar cane center. Today, Todos Santos is a rustic artist colony, surfing destination, and growing culinary center.

Since 1993, this has been a National Marine Preserve designated to protect the underwater ecosystem. It is attractive to visitors for several reasons, including that it offers clear water and coral reefs below the surface that provide outstanding scuba diving and snorkeling views. Kayakers regularly arrive here and enjoy close sightings of the sea lion colony nearby. Several resorts are in this area if you choose to stay nearby and many watersport guides and tours are available. This is a good spot for whale viewing in January through March.

This quaint little restaurant is worth a visit for the traditional Italian cuisine. Cheesy pastas, seafood, salads and warm pizzas at their best, is what you will find here. Try Chef Stefano Miotto's divine creations made from the freshest of ingredients. Dig into dishes like Insalata Dolce with Shrimp or the Focaccia. Make sure you leave room for the scrumptious desserts, for which this trattoria is famous. Or sticking to a rich Italian coffee to cap your meal always does the trick!
