- A Buenos Aires, Argentina
-
-
[Full Description]
Buenos Aires is the capital of the Argentine Republic. The name means ‘fair winds’ in Spanish. It is one of the largest cities in Latin America, with much to offer culturally as well as serving as the hub for travel to the rest of the country. Inhabitants of Buenos Aires are called porteños, “people from the port.”
Buenos Aires is definitely a walking city, with many diverse areas and attractions all within close range of each other. Check out the Cementerio de la Recoleta, where wealthy Argentines are buried along with Eva Perón. Or explore the trendy Palermo Viejo district’s bookstores, bars and boutiques. It’s a good companion of—or alternative to, depending on your travel style—the cobblestoned district of San Telmo for a nighttime excursion.
A trip to Buenos Aires is not complete without experiencing the tango. La Boca and San Telmo are popular places to view this national dance. But you'll also find performers on the streets, and the best place to see real tango is in the “milongas,” the tango halls where locals dance.

- B Dawn Fraser Pool, Sydney
-
-
Recently restored to its former, Victorian glory, this harbourside pool provides a haven for inhabitants of the inner west. Children and teenagers love to congregate here at the weekend while lappers take advantage of the 50 metre pool area. Swimming can be dubious after heavy rain, or during other adverse environmental conditions, but it is reassuring to know that Harbourwatch checks the water regularly! Free hot showers and handy kiosk.[Full Description]

- C Bilgola Beach, Sydney
-
-
The incredibly beautiful Bilgola Beach is surrounded by bush and rain forest and has a secluded ambiance. Parking spaces fill very quickly at weekends, so get there early! Two beach inspectors patrol the beach from the September school holidays until the Anzac Day weekend at the end of April. Volunteer lifesavers are also on duty at weekends and public holidays (Summer only). The fifty-meter ocean pool is a popular venue for lap swimming. The waves can get a bit dangerous at times, so it would be good to call and find out the timings before making a trip here.[Full Description]
