Popular with cruise ship passengers, this walk starts from the general market and runs to the police station at the corner of Newgate and Market streets. The lower, seaward half of the street was called Scott's Row in the 1700s for its population of Scottish immigrants. Today the shops offer clothes, equipment, vegetables and just about everything else. This is the main roadway in St John's, so pedestrians compete with the vehicular traffic. No parking is allowed here.
