There isn't much to attract attention at this neighborhood Chinese barbecue joint on the Pittwater Road, but the observant passerby might notice the multitude of newspaper clippings in the window, the often packed tables, and even (if they looked particularly closely) the rapturous expressions of the diners within. This small, popular restaurant serves up unusual Chinese dishes that keep the locals coming back for more, with super friendly service, great buckets of rice, huge portions and ridiculously low prices. This isn't fine dining, and definitely not for the health conscious, but it is gutsy, authentic Chinese food. Opt for the salt and pepper eggplant: crispy, salty, deep-fried strips (eat them while they are piping hot). Or sample any of the chef's specials marked on the yellow cardboard on the wall, or the crispy-skinned, caramel brown barbecued duck.
