It is fair to say that people visit Fortnums not so much for the food as for the view and setting. It is a typical English place serving scones and English fare for lunch, but with colonial windows surrounding the dining room, you are guaranteed a view of the Dandenong Ranges or neighboring gardens wherever you sit. There is an outdoor veranda (about 8 tables), where your dining experience comes accompanied with birds chirping in the background. The main draw of the place is the garden at the back. On a clear day, you get an unobstructed view of the Melbourne city skyline.
