An original Southgate tenant, Red Emperor is constantly updating and improving. Chef Raymond Cheung, formerly of the famous Flower Drum has lifted the food to new heights. From the marble lions at the entrance, to the fish tank inside, the decor is typical of a traditional, upmarket Chinese restaurant. Red and gold are used extensively to create an opulent, yet comfortable atmosphere. The cuisine of Canton and Beijing is the speciality here. Light and tasty dumplings and Peking Duck (served encased in a pancake) are worth sampling. Red Emperor is also gaining a reputation for its excellent yum cha (dim sum).
