Incongruously located in a predominantly Vietnamese part of Richmond, The Kilim is widely regarded as one of Melbourne's best Turkish restaurants. The sumptuous decor aims to recreate the atmosphere of the Middle East, with hanging carpets, drapes and comfortable cushions. Specialties include Turkish bread with a range of dips including spinach, beetroot, humus, carrot, capsicum, cacik (yogurt, cucumber, olive oil and garlic) and babagamuk (eggplant and yogurt). There is also a range of kebabs, salads and rice dishes, as well as traditional Turkish sweets to pick from.
