It's some distance off the beaten track, and the restaurant's dinky size makes reservations essential, but seafood lovers will find a visit to 476 (‘Quatro Sete Meia' ) is well worth the effort. As well as serving what could be the best fish and seafood dishes in the city, 476 has amazing views over the rugged coastline and out to sea. Tradicional moquecas (Northeastern seafood stews) are among the most popular dishes here, but you can't go wrong with any of the dishes on the menu. The restaurant lies a few miles west of Barra da Tijuca, past the beaches of Prainha and Grumari, and it's easiest to arrive by car or cab from Barra or Recreio. - Lucy Bryson
