With its good value set meals and buffet lunches, regular live music sessions and loyal crowd of lively locals, Nega Teresa is something of a Santa Teresa institution. The no-frills bar serves good, chilled beers at prices that are lower than most other places in the neighborhood, and the weekday set meals are a low-cost way to fill up on the traditional carioca lunch of fish, meat or chicken with rice, beans and salad. But the real reason to come to Nega Teresa is to witness the regular live music sessions.
