Housed in the former chapel of the São Cristóvão palace and set in beautiful parklands, Restaurante Quinta da Boa Vista offers garden views that are every bit as delicious as the food. Open at lunchtimes only, the restaurant offers traditional Brazilian dishes, with the seafood options particularly highly-recommended. Portions are large; ingredients are fresh; and the daily specials, particularly the Friday feijoada (bean and meat stew), are always a good bet. Located in the little-visited North Zone, the restaurant is conveniently placed between Rio's city zoo and the National Museum. - Lucy Bryson
