Candia Taverna, tucked away along a row of Point Grey shops, is a neighborhood restaurant through and through. The wood paneling is dark and the tables narrowly spaced – some even subdivided with wooden partitions – yet the place feels intimate and welcoming rather than crowded. The souvlaki arrives with enough roast potatoes, lemon rice, garlic bread and salad to overfeed most mortals, and is complemented with a nice house wine. The pizzas punch above their weight given the establishment's size. Its Upper 10th location means Candia is conveniently located for a meal after visiting the University. – Joshua Hergesheimer
